From the Cinque Terre to the Riviera
The sail begins from Lerici, a medieval village overlooking the Gulf of Poets, heading north along the cliffs of the Cinque Terre National Park. Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza and Monterosso are reached by sea in the early morning — no crowds, no queues, with the light cutting across their coloured facades.
A stop in Vernazza for lunch, then sailing on towards the Riviera di Levante: Sestri Levante, the Tigullio headland, the sunset setting fire to the rooftops of Rapallo. The evening in a Riviera harbour — dinner on a terrace or on board.
Portofino
The third day is reserved for Portofino: Italy's most iconic little harbour, the villas hidden among the pines of the peninsula, the bay of San Fruttuoso accessible only by sea. The church of San Giorgio, Castello Brown, the abbey of San Fruttuoso — places that by land require queuing, by boat are ten minutes away.
The evening in the harbour, where the lights of the moored vessels reflect on the water and the pastel facades form the backdrop to dinner. The return sail departs at sunset or the following morning, in no rush.
